The DeKalb school board Monday is expected to vote on a waiver to allow Peachtree Hope Charter and The Museum School of Avondale Estates to stay open next year while they work on an application for a five-year charter.

A state Supreme Court ruling invalidated the Georgia Charter Schools Commission, which granted approval to schools denied by local school boards.

DeKalb Chairman Tom Bowen said the district's waiver, if approved, would allow the schools to operate until their new application is approved by the school board.
