On Wednesday night, a man was shot in the groin in the city of Decatur, telling police he had been assaulted during a robbery.

He later said he’d actually been shot during an argument over money he owed someone, though he “could not provide a name,” Lt. Jennifer Ross of Decatur police said.

The shooting happened around 7:30 p.m. at the intersection of Mead Road and Leyden Street near Oakhurst Park.

The victim, whose identity hasn’t been released, is recovering and was in stable condition after the shooting, Ross said.

A witness saw four men running from the scene near the park, but police haven’t announced any arrests or charges.
