Children and teenagers in DeKalb County don’t need to worry about returning books late to the library this summer.

The DeKalb County Public Library, which has branches all over the county, is offering "Fine-Free Summer," and will waive any overdue fines for the children's and teen's collections from June 1 to Aug. 31.

The initiative is “designed to encourage reading and remove any barriers so kids and teens will read more during the summer months,” the library said in a statement.

The library first implemented Fine-Free Summer in 2018, and renewed it for this year.

Children and teens will still face fees for any lost or damaged books.
