DeKalb County has hired Atlanta’s former deputy chief operating officer for a similar role in the county.

Luz Borrero, most recently the vice president of an Atlanta nonprofit group that focuses on community development, will serve as DeKalb’s new deputy development head.

She will oversee the county’s planning, community and economic development offices along with the workforce development unit.

Borrero, who has a law degree from the University of Santiago de Cali, will earn $153,360 in the new job.
