Holy moly, did a lot go on in the DeKalb news world this week. So much so that we wouldn't blame you if you missed a story or two.

However, we do highly suggest you take a moment to get caught up now.

  • We delved into why it's taking so long — going on four years now — for a restaurant proposed by Scott Serpas to open in Brookhaven.
  • And right across the street from where that would-be restaurant is located, we saw images of the construction at The Reserve at Brookhaven Village, "an enclave of five custom built homes starting high $900ks."
  • Josh Sharpe walked us through the young-but-fascinating history of the "castle-house" on Briarcliff Road.
  • In other interesting homes-on-Briarcliff-news, we learned that there may be hope for the famed Briarcliff Mansion, also known as Candler Mansion: A community meeting to see "exciting plans" for restoring the mansion will be held Wednesday from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Emory.
  • Last but not least: everyone got pretty excited that a Jimmy John's should be up and running at the long-vacant Chevron station in Emory Village by Thanksgiving.
