The DeKalb County Fraternal Order of Police announced Tuesday its endorsement of Liz Carter for the Fourth Congressional District.

The FOP voted unanimously to endorse Carter, who is running in the Republican primary on July 20, FOP secretary Bob Hillis said.

Carter, who owns a business consulting firm in Atlanta, has met with officers to discuss legislation that impacts them, the FOP said in a statement.

The FOP is the largest law enforcement organization in the Fourth District, which includes most of DeKalb and portions of Gwinnett and Rockdale counties.

Carter faces Larry Gause, Cory Ruth and Victor Armendariz on the Republican ticket. Incumbent U.S. Rep. Hank Johnson, DeKalb County Commissioner Connie Stokes and former DeKalb CEO Vernon Jones are running on the Democratic ticket.
