A DeKalb County firefighter died after a head-on crash with a tractor-trailer in Meriwether County, authorities said.

“It is with great sadness that we inform you of the passing of Brandon "BC" Davis of fire station 22B,” DeKalb County Fire Rescue said in an Instagram post.

Davis was killed trying to negotiate a curve on Ga. 41 south, according to the Georgia State Patrol.

Davis was in a 2015 Mitsubishi Outlander Sport when he traveled across the double yellow line and into the northbound lanes, striking the tractor-trailer, according to the GSP report.

His car overturned, traveled about 55 feet onto the west shoulder and went down an embankment.

According to the Instagram post, Davis worked for the fire department in Meriwether, too.

“As we mourn our loss of our brother,” DeKalb fire said in the post, “we ask you to please keep the Davis family and friends in your thoughts and prayers.”

Friends will be received from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Claude A. McKibben and Sons Funeral Home, 208 Johnson St., Hogansville. Davis’ funeral is scheduled for 2 p.m. Thursday at Luthersville United Methodist Church, 60 East Oak St., Luthersville.
