The DeKalb County Departments of Watershed Management and Purchasing & Contracting will host a forum for local small, minority and women-owned businesses interested in subcontracting opportunities on the Snapfinger Wastewater Treatment Plant Expansion Project, Phase 2.

The event will take place 8:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Jan. 7 at the Porter Sanford Performing Arts Center, 3181 Rainbow Drive, Decatur.

The forum provides an opportunity for subcontractors to share information about their firms and discuss teaming opportunities with the pre-qualified general contractors.

Originally built in 1963, the Snapfinger Creek facility was constructed to treat two million gallons per day. The present facility, which was completed in 1983, treats 36 million gallons per day.

The expansion is being constructed in three phases. The phase two work includes demolition of the existing tankage and equipment and new construction, including new headworks, biological reactors, membrane bio-reactors, ultraviolet disinfection, and chemical storage.
