DeKalb County Interim CEO Lee May signed an inter-governmental agreement recently to transfer Dresden Park to the city of Chamblee.

The DeKalb County Commission approved the agreement in December which transfers the 25-acre park at 2301 Dresden Drive to Chamblee at no cost. A ceremony Thursday concluded the transaction. The agreement includes the conditions that Chamblee can’t sell the park, must always keep it as a park and must allow residents of unincorporated DeKalb to use the park at the same cost as city residents.

Dresden Park is located in the southeast area of Chamblee which was annexed into the city in 2013.

The city has been negotiating the transfer with the county since the annexation. Chamblee began to develop a master plan last year to guide decisions for park operations, maintenance and capital improvements over the next 10 years.
