DeKalb County CEO Michael Thurmond will announce a special purpose local options sales tax (SPLOST) transportation milestone: resurfacing completion of the first 100 miles of roads and streets in unincorporated DeKalb County. Joined with DeKalb County Board of Commissioners and DeKalb County staff, he will hold a press conference 10 a.m. Friday, Jan. 31 in the Hidden Hills Community of Stone Mountain at 1816 Wynhurst Crossing, Stone Mountain.

“SPLOST is allowing us to pave … the bumpiest, most pothole-filled roads and streets in DeKalb and improve the quality of life for all who live, work and travel through the county,” said DeKalb CEO Michael Thurmond last summer.

DeKalb County will receive an estimated $388 million in SPLOST revenue over the next six years to improve county roads, infrastructure, libraries, parks and public safety.
