After being unable to agree on new leadership during its first meeting this year, the DeKalb County Commission recently elected a new presiding officer of the board.

Commissioner Larry Johnson will replace Commissioner Sharon Barnes Sutton in the top job, overseeing agendas and weekly meetings of the board. He previously served as presiding officer from 2009 to 2012.

Commissioner Stan Watson will serve as deputy presiding officer, taking over leadership when Johnson is unavailable. The terms last for one year.
