The DeKalb County Board of Health is temporarily closing a second health center as it responds to the coronavirus.

Closing the North DeKalb Health Center is “necessary to respond to COVID-19 demands,” the health board said in a statement Friday. The center is located at 3807 Clairmont Rd. NE in Chamblee.

Staff members will be shifted to other centers. The East DeKalb Health Center was previously closed in an effort to consolidate staff members after they focus on the spread of the novel virus.

The Board of Health recently launched a COVID-19 call center to provide information and answer questions about the disease caused by the new coronavirus. The call center, which has live since March 24, serves as an alternative to the state of Georgia's hotline.

It is open from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday and can be reached by calling 404-294-3700 and selecting Option 1.
