DeKalb County’s chief executive has been elected as first vice president of a national organization of county leaders.

Burrell Ellis was elected to the post of the County Executives of America during the group’s recent convention in Oregon. While there, Ellis also attended the National Association of Counties conference. That group gave DeKalb a 2011 Achievement Award for its Marquel’s Pledge initiative to reduce celebratory gunfire.
