DeKalb County, which last year adopted rate increase for water/sewer service for the next several years, may soon study whether to give senior citizens a break on their bills.

The county commission, led by Commissioner Stan Watson, approved a resolution asking Burrell Ellis to form a group to see how to offer payment assistance for customers aged 65 or older.

No study group has yet been formed. The county recently OK’d spending $1.35 billion to make federally mandated upgrades to its system, to be funded by increases in water and sewer rates.
