The DeKalb County Commission recently approved tax breaks and other incentivse for a mixed-use development in the southern part of the county.

By designating Panola Crossings as part of its Enterprise Zone program, the project is exempt from state and county property taxes for 10 years.

The county also can award a one-time waiver of up to $10,000 on building permit fees, business license fees and tap fees for the water and sewer system.

The incentives will be passed onto small businesses in the development as part of an overall effort to attract investment to the Panola Road corridor.
