Weeks after a DeKalb County apartment complex removed its stairs for repairs and stranded upper-level residents, they finally have access to their homes again.

Temporary wooden steps have been installed at Maple Walk Apartments, Channel 2 Action News reported Tuesday.

Residents woke up June 5 to no stairs, The Atlanta Journal-Constitution previously reported.

Owners of the complex were late in following county orders, and they will be cited for the delay, Channel 2 reported.

The unexpected repairs led some residents to use ladders to access their apartments, which is against county rules. The fire marshal told Channel 2 the county has evacuated residents on three separate occasions.
