Atlanta Animal Rescue Friends, a DeKalb County-based animal welfare group, was recently among 19 groups across Georgia to win state Agricultural Department grants.

The $7,500 Spay and Neuter Grant is part of $125,000 dispensed statewide to help fund sterilization efforts of pets. The funding comes from the state’s specialized auto tag, as well as individual donations to the program.
