The Fulton County Commission has put off a decision on whether to slash Sunday hours at 11 libraries. County Manager Zachary Williams suggested it as one of several cost-cutting measures to help plug an expected $74.1 million deficit next year, since the board refused to raise the property tax rate.

Spending could also be cut, Williams said, by postponing work on a south Fulton health clinic, furloughing employees for five days, having employees contribute more to health care and reducing funding for arts groups, nonprofits and nature centers. Commissioners said there may be other ways to save, which they plan to hash out in a work session within the next two weeks.
