The Decatur school board’s July 14 executive session should determine superintendent Phyllis Edwards’ last day with the system. That private session comes after the board’s regular monthly meeting, 6:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Central Office/Beacon Municipal Center, 125 Electric Avenue. Edwards resigned in March but left her final date open-ended, saying that she’d stay on through December at the latest.

Also during Tuesday’s public session the board will propose lowering the millage rate from 20.5 mills to 19 mills, with the possibility of going even lower to 18.66 mills. Additionally, after interviewing four finalists last week, Edwards will likely announce Renfroe Middle School’s new principal, replacing Derrick Thomas who resigned in May.
