Decatur’s newly renovated recreation center won’t open for another month, but residents can get a sneak peak at the lobby.

The city began fixing up the 54-year-old facility on Sycamore Street last year, spending $6.9 million for a new gym, elevated running track, catering kitchen and computer lab.

The center’s lobby will be open during January to take registrations and payments for upcoming classes. The facility is set to re-open on Feb. 4.
