Decatur, which had been reviewing whether to annex several areas around the city, may pursue only commercial areas.
City Manager Peggy Merriss has recommended that nearly all residential areas, including parts of Midway Woods and Derrydown, be removed from the plan. City Commission must decide whether to accept that proposal and annex two mostly commercial areas to the north, Suburban Plaza and Emory Commons.
The commission will take up the issue at its Dec. 17 meeting, which will include a public comment section.
If the city approves a plan, it then goes to the General Assembly.
