Jack Pitts, one of the most highly-recruited athletes in city of Decatur history, leads the pack of four new additions to Decatur High School’s Wall of Honor in a 6 p.m. reception and 6:45 p.m. ceremony Friday in the DHS Arena, 310 North McDonough Street.

Pitts is a 1966 graduate of Trinity High (formerly on the site now occupied by the Beacon Municipal Center) and quarterbacked the 1965 undefeated state champions, Class A Georgia Interscholastic Association of all-black schools, just several years before Trinity closed.

Pitts signed with Michigan State after receiving 75 Division 1 scholarship offers. Others getting inducted Friday include the late Courts Redford, 1950 DHS grad, 1947 grad Frank Miller and 1974 grad Andre Pattillo. The school’s Wall of Honor now totals 22, dating to the first class in 2009.
