A man who called 911 after a shooting Saturday in southwest Atlanta is now facing murder and aggravated assault charges, Atlanta police said.

Anteria Gordon is back in the Fulton County jail, two years after he was arrested on aggravated assault and criminal weapons charges related to an armed robbery, according to jail records.

This time, Gordon is charged with the shooting death of a 26-year-old man, police spokeswoman Officer Lisa Bender told The Atlanta Journal-Constitution.

The Fulton County Medical Examiner’s office identified the victim as Jarvis Hayes.

Gordon, 24, stayed at the scene of the shooting in the 400 block of Ira Street after he called 911 about 7:30 p.m. Saturday, Bender said.

Hayes had been shot multiple times and was taken to a nearby hospital in critical condition, Bender said. He later died from his injuries.

Gordon was cooperative with police investigators who considered the incident a “death investigation,” but later established enough probable cause to upgrade it to a homicide investigation, Bender said.
