Fayette County residents who want to transfer their children to a different elementary or secondary school within the county must submit an application to the Board of Education by July 15. Transfers are made possible by a new state law that allows students to move to a school other than the one assigned to them by the county. If the number of transfer applications exceeds available enrollment slots, transfers will be determined by a lottery on July 22.

Transfers of students in the Georgia Special Needs Scholarship Program are subject to the availability of programs related to each Individualized Education Plan . Parents of all transferred students will be responsible for providing transportation to the new school.

Transfer guidelines and applications are available on the Fayette County Board of Education Web site at www.fcboe.org or can be picked up at the administrative office at 205 LaFayette Ave. in Fayetteville.
