Forsyth County students entering seventh and eighth grades this fall, who want to learn what it’s like to be a firefighter, have until May 11 to turn in their applications for the Forsyth Junior Fire Academy.

The Forsyth Fire Department will conduct the free summer camp program from 8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., Monday, June 10, through Friday, June 14, at Fire Department headquarters. To apply: https://bit.ly/2GMhNGd

Topics to be covered include firefighting, search-and-rescue practices, cardiopulmonary resuscitation and other skills, according to a county announcement. Those accepted for the program must attend an orientation meeting at 6:30 p.m., June 4.

“Along with getting to see what a week in the life of a firefighter is like, students will have the opportunity to learn lessons about teamwork, responsibility and general best safety practices,” said Fire Chief Barry Head.
