Property owners who disagree with their recent assessments have until Monday to challenge their values.

Those who file must write a letter that includes their parcel ID number and street address. Appeals can be filed under the property appraiser link online at www.dekalbcountyga.gov or by mail or hand-delivered to the appraiser’s office, 120 W. Trinity Place, Decatur.

As of Wednesday, the county had received 7,076 registered appeals, according to Richard Stogner, Dekalb’s chief operating officer. Of those, about 6,000 were from residential home owners.
