Fayette County school superintendent Joseph Barrow Jr. told the Board of Education on Monday that “the day of reckoning is coming” regarding final residency verification of enrolled students.

Audrey Toney, director of student services, reported that 631 students from 433 households are still unverified. The county continues to use email, school correspondence and social worker home visits to try to get county residency confirmed, but Barrow said that Dec. 16 is the likely deadline after which students who cannot prove residency would have to be withdrawn.
