Two people were shot, one of them fatally, in northwest Atlanta on Wednesday night, police said.

One male died in the 2500 block of Center Street NW, and a second male was found wounded in the 2500 block of Etheridge Street NW, Atlanta police spokeswoman Officer Kim Jones said.

The wounded man waved down police, Channel 2 Action News reported.

Police believe the shootings, which happened around 7:30 p.m., are connected because of the close proximity of the two incidents but don't have a motive yet, Lt. Paul Guerrucci told the AJC.

The deceased person was shot in the head, while the injured person was shot in the lower extremities and taken to Grady Memorial Hospital, Guerrucci said.
