Two people are confirmed dead after a crash on I-985 in Gwinnett County on Friday afternoon, police said.
The accident on I-985 southbound under Ga. 20 involved four vehicles -- a box truck, a Nissan passenger car, a Dodge pickup truck and a minivan towing a trailer with an ATV on it, Cpl. Jake Smith with Gwinnett County police said.
Traffic was slowed or stopped at the ramp from Ga. 20 to I-985 south when the box truck crashed into the Nissan, killing both people in that vehicle, Smith said.
The box truck and car then hit the pickup truck, spinning it into the center median before the Nissan was pushed into the minivan's trailer, he said.
One pickup truck occupant was transported to a hospital with non-life threatening injuries, Smith said.
The names of the two deceased individuals will not be released until notification of the next of kin, police said.
All lanes of I-985 were blocked while authorities investigated the crash. The road reopened just after 6 p.m.
