CVS now offers more health services at 16 of its metro Atlanta locations.

The pharmacy chain has launched its new HealthHUB store design in the Atlanta area, with expanded services and products for patients and customers. The concept, which debuted in Texas last year, adds services including chronic condition care, expanded MinuteClinic services and “wellness rooms” that can host group health screenings and other events.

CVS has long operated its in-store MinuteClinic, a walk-in clinic where patients can get vaccines and be evaluated for minor illnesses and injuries that don’t require the services of an urgent care center or emergency room. The HealthHUB model introduces the availability of ongoing care. Patients can go to HealthHUB locations for regular treatment and monitoring of conditions including high blood pressure, high cholesterol, sleep apnea and diabetes, according to a CVS press release.

More routine medical services are also being offered at the MinuteClinics at HealthHUB locations. Patients can receive physicals, including those to medically clear kids to participate in sports or camp. The locations also offer services for women including pregnancy screenings and birth control care. Medical staff includes nurses, nurse practitioners and phlebotomists.

CVS is not the only big national chain expanding its health offerings in metro Atlanta. Walmart opened its first-ever health clinic in a Dallas, Georgia, store in September. The Walmart Health Center includes primary care as well as X-rays and EKGs, counseling and hearing evaluations.
