Update:

Tokyo Express, located in the Cumberland Mall food court, passed its re-inspection with a near-perfect score even though it had a new violation of “mold and pink slime” inside its ice machine.

The eatery scored a 96 when it checked on Oct. 12, according to Cobb County health department records.

The inspector wrote that the ice machine needed to be sanitized “as often as needed to prevent contamination.”

An eatery in the Cumberland Mall food court has failed its recent health check, according to Cobb County health department records.

Tokyo Express, between the Cinnabon and Farmer’s Basket, scored a 60 on its Wednesday inspection. Any score below a 70 is considered failing.

The inspector noted a build-up of food debris, grease and “other residue” on surfaces that come in contact with food in addition to the floors and walls throughout facility.

There were also several dirty wiping cloths near where food is prepared. The inspector also docked points because several foods were improperly and unsafely stored.

The eatery did not respond to multiple calls for comment Thursday and Friday.
