The Lawrenceville City Council voted recently to use asset forfeiture funds for the purchase of equipment for six new Ford Taurus sedans. The contract for $55,949 with West Chatham Warning Devices will purchase police vehicle lighting, mounting for police laptops, interior security bars, safety polycarbon windows and special bumpers among other items.

In addition to the vehicle gear, the council approved a separate $7,050 contract to the lowest of three bidders, West Chatham Warning Devices, for installation of the new equipment.

Asset forfeiture funds are obtained by confiscating proceeds or instruments resulting from criminal activity. Lawrenceville routinely uses these funds to purchase and upgrade police equipment.
