A man died after he drove his car off of I-285 and into a tree Sunday just past Camp Creek Parkway.

The man first ran into a guardrail for some unknown reason, Atlanta police told Channel 2 Action News.

The car, a 2012 BMW 328i, continued travelling off the road and only “came to an abrupt stop when it struck a large tree” just before 2 p.m. police said.

“The victim was entrapped and had to be extricated from the vehicle by Atlanta fire,” police said.

The man was taken to Grady Memorial Hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 2:41 p.m.

There was no evidence another vehicle was involved in the crash, police said.
