The Henry County Board of Commissioners voted unanimously at its May 5 regular meeting to extend a new three-year contract to county manager Cheri Hobson-Matthews, who started in the position three years ago.

Her new annual salary of $175,000 is a 14 percent increase from her previous contract, which recently expired. Matthews has worked for Henry County a total of 18 years. She began as a planner and was eventually a division director. She spent two years as deputy county manager before moving up to her present position, where she has already served longer than her four most recent predecessors.
