NBA skills campwill be at Wheeler High
The fourth “In the Layne” event will feature an NBA skills camp from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. June 24-28 . Cost is $175 per camper between the ages of 9 and 14. It will be held at Wheeler High School, 375 Holt Road N.E., Marietta..The camp will feature two local NBA basketball stars, Marshon Brooks of the Brooklyn Nets and Kevin Murphy of the Utah Jazz.

Fayette County finalizing 2014 budget
The Fayette County Board of Commissioners is finalizing a fiscal 2014 balanced budget that reflects job cuts and no tax increases. The measure will eliminate the equivalent of 32 full-time positions, reduce retirement benefits and include smaller operations budgets. It will also provide an $830,000 reserve fund. Fayette textbooks available for review
The Fayette County Public School System is about to adopt new textbooks for all grade levels of math and for Advanced Placement Spanish.
A briefing about the books was given to the Board of Education in May and sample texts are available for public review through June 17 at the BOE office, 210 Stonewall Ave. West. Jill Howard Church for the AJC

Expect delays on North Berkeley Lake Road
The final portion of Berkeley Lake’s dam repair has begun with the installation of sod along the banks of the newly repaired dam. Once sodding is complete, contractors will restore the lake’s recreation parking area back to its preconstruction condition.
The project should be complete within five to seven weeks. In addition to delays from this project, motorists will experience interruption to traffic flow along North Berkeley Lake Road due to sidewalk installation. Karen Huppertz for the AJC

Fulton seeks comment on program changes
The Fulton County Housing and Human Services Department wants public input on proposed changes to its 2010-14 consolidated plan and neighborhood stabilization program.

Volunteers needed to boost healthy habits
DeKalb County is seeking volunteers ages 50 and older to help DeKalb youth adopt more healthy lifestyle habits.
The eight-week program, which begins June 6, pairs volunteers with children in kindergarten through grade for activities once a week.
Activities will take place at the Exchange Park Intergenerational Center on Columbia Drive, near Decatur.
