The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers plans several open house meetings during the balance of February to update the public on both a recreation study of Lake Lanier and a master plan update.

The corps kicked off a study in October of 2017 to look at the lake’s current and future recreation needs, as well as its capacity for recreation. The study is expected to wrap up by the end of 2018. Results will be used to update the Lake’s master plan. The corps calls it a comprehensive land use and recreational tool designed to balance stewardship of the lake with various recreational facilities and opportunities.

All the open house meetings are from 4 to 8 p.m. They’re set for: Feb. 15 at the Hall County Government Center, 2875 Browns Bridge Road, Gainesville, Feb. 20 at the Forsyth County Central Park Banquet Room, 2300 Keith Bridge Road, Cumming and Feb. 22 at Kilough Elementary School, 1063 Kilough Church Road, Dawsonville.
