The management of Allatoona Lake and Lake Lanier has announced “temporary and partial closures” in response to the COVID-19 outbreak.
The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers made the announcement in simultaneous postings Wednesday to Facebook sites for Allatoona and Lanier.
At Allatoona Lake, for example, the Project Management Office is closed to visitors, and campgrounds and recreation areas not already open will have a delayed opening of May 1. Information: https://bit.ly/2xI4eXw
The Corps' South Atlantic Division said on Facebook that visitor centers and resource management offices will be closed to the general public; campgrounds and recreation areas not yet opened will have delayed openings; and at sites already open, a hold will be placed on new reservations.
Interpretive programs, site visits, tours and Corps-sponsored events in the next 60 days will be canceled. Personnel will stop collecting cash from fee stations; however, payments can still be made at cashless automated fee machines. Information: https://bit.ly/2UgGIsq
