Five-month-old Camila Aguilar died on Sept. 21 at Epic Gardens Apartments on Buford Highway, the cause of death a mystery.

Exactly one month later, her mother asked to speak with Brookhaven police and admitted to "using a pillow to suffocate the child," according to a warrant released Wednesday.

Estefania Roman-Aguilar, 18, is charged with child cruelty and remains in the county jail without bond.

The warrant, which says the medical examiner's report isn't complete, doesn't reveal why the mother would kill the child.

It wasn't immediately clear if she will face further charges.

The police department didn't respond to a request for further information.

A man who answered Roman-Aguilar's phone Wednesday afternoon didn't give his name and said he couldn't talk.

Told of the contents of the warrant, he said: "That's not even true."
