Gwinnett County police have arrested the man they believe hit and killed a pedestrian Sunday night near Norcross.

He was not licensed to drive.

Carlos Hernandez-Tecata, 44, of Lilburn was arrested Monday and charged with felony vehicular homicide, felony hit and run and driving without a license. Police believe he drove away after hitting a woman trying to walk across South Norcross Tucker Road around 9:30 p.m. Sunday.

The woman, whose name is still being withheld pending notification of kin, died at the scene.

It was not immediately clear Tuesday how Hernandez-Tecata was identified as a suspect or where he was apprehended. He is being held at the Gwinnett County jail without bond.
