A Smyrna fugitive sits in a Florida jail on juvenile sex charges while Cobb County cops want him for similar offenses here involving a 12-year-old boy.
Jeffery David Youngblood, 49, faces charges of aggravated child molestation, simple battery, making terroristic threats and enticing a child by the Smyrna Police Department, according to a warrant signed Wednesday.
Youngblood was arrested by the Largo Police Department on the west coast of Florida on Sept. 24.
The Cobb warrant said the alleged sex crimes happened at his Dell Avenue home in Smyrna between July 31 and Aug. 5.
The battery charge stems from when Youngblood allegedly "body slammed" the boy who did not want to participate in "cuddle time," the warrant said.
The charges of terroristic threats and enticing a child stem from when Youngblood tried to sexually engage with the 12-year-old boy and "threatened to hurt the children if they told anyone about the child molestation," according to the warrant.
Youngblood is currently in the Florida jail awaiting trial for two charges of sexual battery and two counts of lewd and lascivious behavior.
If he is found guilty in Florida, Youngblood would serve his time before being extradited back to Cobb and starting the legal process all over again, said Smyrna police spokesman Louis Defense.
Youngblood was arrested by Largo police while traveling to Florida.
The child "was known to" Youngblood but wouldn't elaborate further to protect the identity of the child, Largo police Lt. Paul Amodeo said on the phone Tuesday.
Two days after Youngblood was arrested, the Largo department posted on Facebook seeking information about any other victims.
"Youngblood has lived in several different areas of Largo over the past 19 years. In the last year, he has moved between Largo, Pasco County, and Smyrna," the post said.
People guilty of these crimes usually select, groom and then violate their victims, Amodeo said. They also usually prey on multiple victims.
