Brookhaven police are searching for a man who is accused of stealing a dog from a woman on a walk.

The dog, a 2-year-old Yorkie named Blondie, was snatched last Friday on Barone Avenue near Clairmont Road, police said in news release Tuesday.

"The victim advised as she was walking her dog on Barone Ave, her dog was able to break free from her control with the leash still attached and run towards an unknown male subject," the release, issued on Facebook, said. "The male subject then bent down, grabbed the dog and fled the scene towards Clairmont Rd."

Anyone with information was asked to contact Detective Corey Van Alen at 404-637-0622 or corey.vanalen@brookhavenga.gov. Anonymous tipsters can call 404-637-0636.
