A man fleeing the scene of a hit-and-run collision was struck and killed on I-285 in Smyrna on Saturday night, Cobb police said.

According to investigators, David Leonza Jordan, 26, of Marietta, was involved in a hit-and-run in the area of South Cobb Drive and I-285 northbound just after 11 p.m.

He fled the scene on foot toward 5300 South Cobb Drive, running across the exit ramp from I-285 northbound to South Cobb Drive and then onto the northbound lanes of the interstate, police said.

After crossing the outside and center lanes of I-285, he was hit by a Chevrolet Z-71 truck, authorities said. His body was knocked into the center lane, where it was struck by a Pontiac Grand Am, then a third vehicle that did not stop, police said.

Jordan was pronounced dead at the scene, and the investigation is continuing, police said.
