When one bank customer left behind an envelope of cash, the next person in line decided to claim it, Paulding County police said Friday.

The incident happened at the Bank of America branch on U.S. 278, Major Mike O'Neal with Hiram police told the AJC.

The suspect was quickly apprehended by Paulding County deputies, who turned the man over to Hiram detectives, O'Neal said.

"The money was left on a counter because a customer was upset," O'Neal said. "The next customer completed his transaction, then takes the money."

Business was back to normal at the bank after the incident.
