Gangs in DeKalb County ravage lives and end them. Mothers and fathers. Young men and women. Boys and girls. Even a baby boy was assassinated in his mother's arms allegedly because of conflicts his uncle had with Bloods.
In an abandoned house down the road from Lithonia High, police now allege another grievous crime happened because of gangs.
Antonio Lamar Banks, a 25-year-old alleged Gangster Disciples member, is accused of molesting a boy under 16 years old in an initiation, warrants say.
Police accuse Banks of attempting to perform oral sex on the child, whose exact age isn’t revealed in the documents.
“(Banks) and another juvenile held (the victim) against his will after (he) tried to run from them while being initiated into the gang,” a detective wrote in the warrants. “(The victim) may have been a willing participant until oral sex became a part of it.”
Banks is also accused of inflicting six cigarette burns on the boy’s thigh.

The situation is said to have happened last summer, between late May and August, in a home that’s previously been tied to gangs on Dana Court.
But Banks, who is held without bond on counts of child molestation and kidnapping, wasn’t charged and arrested until last week. The reason for the delay wasn’t clear.
DeKalb County police didn’t immediately provide further information on the case. Maj. Stephen Fore, department spokesman, described the case as an ongoing investigation.
Asked if other cases of similar gang initiations had been seen in DeKalb before, Fore said he wasn’t familiar with one exactly like this one.
"But it has been seen before where members are sexed into a gang,” he said, referring to the practice of making someone have sex to become part of a gang.
