Two young Cobb County residents died in a head-on crash Sunday night, and charges are expected to be filed.

Allison Carroll, 24, of Powder Springs, and 17-year-old Ashley Bratton, of Acworth, died in the crash on Mars Hill Road at Newpark Drive, said Cobb police. They died at WellStar Kennestone Hospital.

Carroll was driving a 2014 black Ford Escape north of Mars Hill as a red 2010 Toyota Corolla carrying Bratton and two others headed south.

Police said the driver of the Toyota, who is 20 and lives in Hiram, lost control possibly because of speed and crashed.

The department didn’t say how fast the vehicle was going but that charges are expected to be filed.

“Fatality collisions prompt very in-depth investigations,” said police spokeswoman officer Sarah O’Hara.

She said investigators prefer to their work on the front end before the legal process begins.

The Atlanta Journal-Constitution is not identifying the driver, as they have not been actually charged with a crime.
