An Atlanta woman turned herself in to Cobb County police Tuesday on accusations that she blew through a red light and killed a Mableton man earlier this month.

Kimberly Lambert, who lives off Cheshire Bridge Road in Atlanta, is charged with the death of 71-year-old William Meyers.

Her second-degree vehicular homicide is a misdemeanor count defined by Georgia code as being an unintentional death.

Cobb police say that Meyers was driving a silver 2007 Honda Accord east on Old Alabama Road about 3:30 p.m. May 1 when he tried to turn left onto Maxham Road.

Lambert, 45, was heading south on Maxham in a yellow 2000 Nissan Xterra when she went through the red light and collided with the left side of the Honda.

Meyers was taken to WellStar Hospital, where he died. Lambert was taken to the hospital for non-life-threatening injuries.

Lambert bonded out six hours after turning herself in with a bail of $3,520.
