Two men are in jail for their alleged involvement with a Decatur apartment shootout that killed one man a few weeks ago.

Timond Eugene Chubb was killed June 3 when two groups used a shotgun, a rifle and several handguns during a shootout on at the Decatur Gardens apartments on Glenwood Road near Columbia Drive.

The shooting “may have been gang related,” the DeKalb County Sheriff’s Office said in a news release Wednesday.

The announcement went on to say that David E. Johnson, Jr., had been booked into a jail in Volusia County, Florida, on Tuesday after a traffic stop there.

When Johnson returns to DeKalb, he will face a felony murder charge.

The other man arrested in connection with the shootout is Branden Pitts.

Pitts was booked into DeKalb jail June 7, where he remained Thursday, according to sheriff’s office spokeswoman Cynthia Williams.

He is being held on a murder charge, jail records show.
