A convicted child molester is returning to jail for mailing child pornography to a former fellow inmate for Easter, authorities said.

Preston Daniel Cooper, 44, of Atlanta, had just completed a 15-year sentence at D. Ray James State Prison in Folkston in southeast Georgia in 2008, according to the state Department of Corrections.

Cooper was staying in a half-way house when he printed off pornographic pictures of children, stuffed them inside a secret compartment he created in an Easter card, and mailed the card to an inmate at the Telfair State Prison in Helena, U.S. Attorney spokeswoman Charysse Alexander said.

Correction workers at Telfair thought the package was exceptionally bulky for a card, and opened it to find the photos, Alexander said.

It is unclear who the inmate is that the card was sent to, or the relationship to Cooper.

He was convicted in May, and a federal judge on Tuesday sentenced Cooper to another 15-year sentence in prison.
