Construction on a new 186-room Hampton Inn & Suites by Hilton is underway on Piedmont Road.

The 108,659-square-foot hotel will be located in Buckhead Place, joining businesses including LA Fitness, Marshall’s, Pier One, Hyatt Place and 05 Buckhead apartment tower.

Hotel developer McKibbon Hospitality and Coro Realty Advisors are working together on the project, which broke ground Aug. 8.

McKibbon Hospitality manages several hotels in the area, including downtown Atlanta's first Home2 Suites by Hilton, one of which may also be coming to Kennesaw from a different developer.

David Hughs, president of McKibbon Hospitality’s investments and development division, called Buckhead "incredibly vibrant" in a news release.

"We are thrilled to partner with Coro Realty Advisors to bring a premium hotel brand and more hotel rooms to the Buckhead area," Hughs said.

"We have collaborated with McKibbon on this project for years and are excited to finally see the project get started," Lundeen said in a release.

Kellogg & Kimsey — based in Sarasota, Florida — is the general contractor for the project.
