Lane closures are taking place on Piedmont Road for the next few weeks.

Construction began Monday at 1836 Piedmont Road between Rock Springs and Wimbledon roads. Work is scheduled to take place from 9 a.m. - 4 p.m. daily for about three weeks.

The closure on each side of the double yellow line is a result of a sewer repair. The crews are expected to work between the manholes in the center of the road, allowing cars to travel past the work zone in one northbound lane and one southbound lane.

Traffic control measures and flaggers will be in place to guide motorists around the work zone, a press release said. Residents and businesses will continue to have access to mail and package delivery, emergency services and trash pick-up.
